Anesthesia Technician

Summary:

Assumes responsibility under supervision of Operating Room Leadership/Anesthesiologist and Registered Nurse for the set-up and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and monitors in delivery of anesthetic care for a specific group of neonates pediatric adolescentadultor geriatric patientsin accordance withSurgical Services and Anesthesia Departments established policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Assumes responsibility to ensure proper functioning of all equipment by usingappropriate qualitycontrol procedures on a routine basis.

1. Works collaboratively as a team member when providing patient care to promote positive patient outcomesand tomaintaincontinuity of patient care through clear communication and professional working relationships including pertinent oral and/or written report to oncoming relief/ancillary personnel.

1. Assistsin placement of invasive monitoring lines initiation of regionalanesthesiaand other anesthetic procedures as assigned.

1. Sets up all pressure transducers and ensures proper calibration of transducers and monitors.

1. Follows established policies for all safety and infection control practices andmonitorsthe environment and equipment to ensure cleaning standards aremaintained.

1. Remains available and accessible when on duty oron-call

1. Demonstrates knowledge of current trends and practices inhealthcare field as evidence byattending inservices for equipmentsuppliesand procedures.

1. Utilizes materialequipmentand time in a safetherapeuticand cost-effective manner.
2. Responds to all supervisors requests for information andassistsina timelyand courteous manner.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires high school diploma or equivalent.

1 year experience as an Anesthesia Technician or 2 years experience as an Operating Room Patient Care Technician or equivalent experience

License Registration orCertificationRequirements:

Basic Life Saving (AHA or ARC)

Preferred: Anesthesia Technician certification from a National or State recognized professional organization which requires an accrediting exam.

Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant and/or EKG Certification
