Summary:
Assumes responsibility under supervision of Operating Room Leadership/Anesthesiologist and Registered Nurse for the set-up and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and monitors in delivery of anesthetic care for a specific group of neonates pediatric adolescentadultor geriatric patientsin accordance withSurgical Services and Anesthesia Departments established policies and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility to ensure proper functioning of all equipment by usingappropriate qualitycontrol procedures on a routine basis.
- Works collaboratively as a team member when providing patient care to promote positive patient outcomesand tomaintaincontinuity of patient care through clear communication and professional working relationships including pertinent oral and/or written report to oncoming relief/ancillary personnel.
- Assistsin placement of invasive monitoring lines initiation of regionalanesthesiaand other anesthetic procedures as assigned.
- Sets up all pressure transducers and ensures proper calibration of transducers and monitors.
- Follows established policies for all safety and infection control practices andmonitorsthe environment and equipment to ensure cleaning standards aremaintained.
- Remains available and accessible when on duty oron-call
- Demonstrates knowledge of current trends and practices inhealthcare field as evidence byattending inservices for equipmentsuppliesand procedures.
- Utilizes materialequipmentand time in a safetherapeuticand cost-effective manner.
- Responds to all supervisors requests for information andassistsina timelyand courteous manner.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
1 year experience as an Anesthesia Technician or 2 years experience as an Operating Room Patient Care Technician or equivalent experience
License Registration orCertificationRequirements:
Basic Life Saving (AHA or ARC)
Preferred: Anesthesia Technician certification from a National or State recognized professional organization which requires an accrediting exam.
Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant and/or EKG Certification
