Title: Analyst - Workforce Development and Education

Location: Hybrid - Must work and live in the state of Michigan

Purpose: This position functions as a coordination analyst within the Access Workforce Development and Education Section with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Bureau of Childrens Coordinated Health Policy and Supports primarily supporting work related to the Michigan Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (MichiCANS) tool and Michigan Intensive Child and Adolescent Services (MICAS) workforce development needs of the bureau.

The position will assist with analyst duties for the section including but not limited to coordination of projects scheduling high level data analysis presentations and creation of advanced Excel documents to support bureau functions. This position will also support the section with a range of activities including analyzing ways to address challenges that arise with section initiatives and providing suggestions based on analysis; participating in bureau and department meetings and workgroups to support section work; communicating with internal and external partners to support project implementation; collaborating on policy and program development; and working with the bureaus data team to assist with data analysis as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as Analyst to Support Section-Related Projects and Initiatives

  • Support all bureau functions related to the MichiCANS and expansion of the MICAS workforce.
  • Ensure coordination and alignment of section work with other bureau and department goals.
  • Support subject matter experts in implementation of projects assigned to the section.
  • Independently expand knowledge base by researching applicable information for projects presentations and assignments.
  • Compile information for the timely completion of necessary reports and presentations.
  • Prepare PowerPoints advanced excel spreadsheets and talking points for various projects.
  • Assist with the management of workforce development incentives including but not limited to application management evaluation marketing reporting and ongoing monitoring of program success.
  • Respond to requests for information from internal and external partners.
  • Review applicable information (laws policies etc.) to assist subject matter experts with making informed recommendations regarding shifts to policies practices and programming.
  • Represent the section in meetings and on workgroups as requested.
  • Support functions of the section including scheduling dissemination of materials technology support etc.

Develop Partnerships with Internal and External Stakeholders to Inform Section Work

  • Develop relationships with entities including but not limited to: Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans (PIHPs); Community Mental Health Services Programs (CMHSPs); public and private child welfare partners Community Mental Health Association (CMHA) Association for Childrens Mental Health (ACMH) Certified Community Behavioral
    • Health Clinic (CCBHC) leads Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) leads Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) leads State Hospital Administration (SHA) and other identified stakeholders.
  • Support section manager and staff in building relationships with identified stakeholders to execute section goals.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate meetings/work groups with internal and external partners to address identified needs of the section.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Minimum of a bachelors degree in any major is required.

Experience: Minimum of three years of professional experience working with child-serving systems; experience with initiatives focused on addressing the behavioral health needs of children.

Important Skills and Characteristics:

  • This position requires the ability to brainstorm complex issues and provide recommendations based on research and knowledge of the MichiCANS and MICAS services.
  • This candidate must possess a sophisticated knowledge base of the MichiCANS and MICAS services or the ability to quickly grow that knowledge.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced Excel user.
  • Skilled in complex data management data analysis and reporting via Excel.
  • Highly organized.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Physical effort will be typical of an office position. The employee could be exposed to local weather conditions at public events.
