SailFuture is a nonprofit organization in St. Petersburg Florida dedicated to helping youth who have experienced significant life challenges build meaningful independent futures.

Through residential foster care a private high school workforce development international sailing expeditions and social enterprises we provide young people with the relationships education and opportunities they need to achieve economic freedom.

Our Construction Team plays a critical role in that mission. Every renovation and new construction project helps expand safe housing for disadvantaged youth while generating revenue that directly supports scholarships and tuition assistance for students at SailFuture Academy.

AmeriCorps Behavior Specialist

SailFuture is recruiting a dynamic and relatable leader to motivate and support students in a project-based high school.

The AmeriCorps Behavior Specialist is an entry-level educational leadership and behavior management role. You will support students throughout the school day help oversee general school operations and assist with transportation as needed.

You will help implement school behavior policies processes and procedures. The ideal candidate charismatically engages students who may temporarily disengage from class or need to step away to refocus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with transportation of students from their internships and externships

  • Help ensure a safe classroom environment both physically and emotionally

  • Ensure students uphold community standards in the classroom and within our community

  • Create a space for students to fail forward and improve their mastery of target objectives

  • Provide real-time constructive feedback to help students grow

  • Provide individualized input for each student in term-end review meetings

  • Work with teens in a one-on-one environment

  • Build meaningful relationships and trust with students to improve their behavior educational performance and social relationships

Qualifications
