The Structural Analysis Engineerposition is responsible for performing stress analysis of aircraft structure including primary and secondary structural components as well as systems installations. The candidate must have experience using industry standard stress analysis methods to analyze metallic and composite structures. The position is fast-paced full of technical challenges and growth opportunities. Candidate must exhibit flexibility to work on multiple programs from experimental aircrafts to FAA Supplemental Type Certificates (STC).
In This Role You Will:
Review and understand customer specifications technical documentation and structural configurations.
New program requirements review: impact assessment methods of compliance.
Perform design trade studies.
Use aircraft Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (SRM AMM IPL) documents to extract information needed to perform stress analysis.
Modify Instructions for Continued Airworthiness before reintegrating aircraft to service.
Create coarse grid FEMs to be used as loads models but also create Fine Grid FEMs for stress analysis.
Perform stress analysis using industry standard analytical approach.
Produce stress analysis reports and FEM Validation reports.
Detailed part and installation drawing review and stress approval.
Provide stress support to manufacturing team: repairs NCR dispositions.
Support test planning: instrumentation definition load conditions.
Support certification process for STC.
Document stress processes and develop efficient tools to automate stress analysis.
Work in close cooperation with other engineering disciplines such as Design Manufacturing Systems Flight Test Loads and Weights & Balance.
Qualifications
The Skills You Will Bring (Minimum):
Education:
Four (4) year degree in Engineering (Aerospace or Mechanical).
Experience:
Five (5) years aerospace experience in Structural Analysiswith at least one of the following structural analysis fields is required:static strength analysis dynamic analysis fatigue or damage tolerance.
Analysis of metallic or composite structure is required.
Experience with FEA is required. Simcenter Nastran FEMAP and Simcenter3D are preferred.
Experience with CATIA and NX is preferred.
Knowledge of aircraft structure is preferred.
Familiarity with FAR Part 25 subpart C.
Familiarity with stress analysis methodologies documented in Bruhn Niu ESDU Flabel Peterson Timoshenko etc.
Experience supporting structural testing instrumentation definition to support flight test ground test and component testing is preferred.
Scripting experience with either Excel VB (macros) Python is a plus.
