What You Will Do

The Aero Thermal Fluids (ATF) organization is responsible for the functional aerodynamic design analysis and performance of components and modules throughout Pratt & Whitney commercial and military engine product lines.

The Aero Propulsion Systems teams are part of the ATF organization focused on the aerodynamic design and analysis of high-performance military exhaust systems including bypass duct and nozzle aerodynamics augmentor combustion and exhaust system cooling design as well as propulsion system acoustics and aeromechanics and commercial engine inlet / nacelle aerodynamics.

We are seeking motivated college interns with strong technical problem solving and communication skills to join our team and be part of continuing Pratt & Whitneys industry leadership in current and next generation military propulsion systems.

As an Aero Propulsion Systems Intern at Pratt & Whitney you will

• Perform aerodynamic and thermal analyses in support of aircraft engine and technology development

• Process analytical and rig / engine test data to inform design decisions and root cause analyses

• Coordinate analyses review with subject matter experts and communicate results as part of a cross-discipline team (aero design structures)

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing Bachelors or Advanced degree Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or related Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field and actively enrolled through the completion of the intern session.
• Experience with modeling and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) including tools such as Fluent Star-CCM CharLES or similar
• Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience research coursework or projects

Qualifications We Prefer

• DoD Security Clearance
• Experience with Meshing
• Experience with Lofting and CAD
• Experience with ANSYS / FEA

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37000 USD - 82000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to individual performance business unit performance and/or the companys performance.
