The Technology Directorate is seeking a Database Administrator/Developer to support the irradiation testing community through maintenance and development of an existing Oracle database. The position will report to the manager of the Irradiations & Sensors (I&S) unit in the Core Materials Manufacturing & Irradiations (CMMI) department. We are seeking a database engineer to join our team to aid in the development and maintenance of the ATRITD database that supports the research development of materials at the Advanced Test Reactor.
Specific duties include:
- Administering and optimizing an Oracle database and APEX environments supporting engineering workflows including schema management performance tuning troubleshooting back-up/recover security and promotion access across development/testing/production.
- Leading modernization efforts by refactoring and updating database schemas.
- Designing improved non-APEX based processes and interfaces for engineers.
- Collaborate with other application owners on database-to-database communication
- Developing along with technical staff functional and technical requirements
- Providing end user training and support
- Advanced Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with database development (SQL Oracle Oracle PL/SQL SQL Server Microsoft Access etc.)
- Experience with web application development technology (JavaScript CSS Oracle APEX )
- Experience with Python C C# Java or other programming and/or scripting languages
- Capability to clearly communicate complex ideas both verbally and in written format
- Experience with database design development data modeling and security
