MOUNTAIN VIEW CA 94043JOB TITLE: High School Diploma Teacher in Young Parents Program (YPP)BASIC FUNCTION:The Young Parents Program Teacher oversees the day to day operation of the young (teen) parents program. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach and mentor district high school students who are pregnant or parenting. This includes working cooperatively with Adult School independent study staff to help young parents meet academic high school requirements for graduation as well as interact with other staff that provides additional services such as counseling parent education and on-site childcare. The teacher is responsible for engaging mentoring and assisting with student goal setting and tracking goal progress. Other duties include: organizing informational speakers and other activities for the class home visitations organizing field trips and creating additional opportunities for student success. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:Implement classroom curriculum that supports student academic needs and leads to completion of a high school students in setting academic and employment goals. Organize field trip to local community -perform regular home program coordinator with Young Parents Program referrals and required field trips to community events and assess student performance and incorporate technology into classroom on an ongoing weekly with appropriate school staff to communicate student needs and to improve student participation and student learning regularly and effectively departmentally and complete all student recordkeeping in a timely manner. Perform other duties as AND ABILITIES:KNOWLEDGE OF:Current pedagogy regarding teen knowledge of California High School Content knowledge of online instruction. Strong computer skills in Internet email word processing spreadsheets data entry assorted student recordkeeping and web TO:Maintain effective communication with members of the program the adult school at large district and high school staffs and with members of the relationships with school and community effectively as part of a school structure discipline in a positive and consistent and mentor at-risk AND EXPERIENCE:1.A minimum of a B.A. degree a valid California teaching credential and demonstrated effectiveness in the teacher role is certificate or work experience with K-12 students whose first language is other than English is letters of professional recommendation are work experience in alternative education and/or with at-risk teens is required. WORKING CONDITIONS:Classroom environment; subject to interruptions. Ability to multi-task with a wide range of student abilities. Work on computer combined with one-on-one and small group instruction.
