Join us in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism. Damar is looking for passionate Direct Support Professionals to perform a variety of tasks related to the care of Adult clients living in our Damar Villages. Some duties include client supervision and care crisis management promoting appropriate social behaviors and supporting clients in achieving their maximum potential.

• 2nd Shift (3pm - 11:30pm)

What you need to be considered:

• Be at least 18 years of age to work in our Community Living and Support Services program
• Be able to provide formal proof of a high school diploma or GED
• Possess a valid Indiana drivers license and good driving record
• Be clear of any felony convictions substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
• Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Favorably meet and maintain Damars background screening

Essential Job Functions

The essential functions of this position require the physical ability and mobility needed to perform the job. This includes the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally stoop bend kneel crouch reach and twist; lift carry push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.; operate office equipment including a computer keyboard; travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation; and communicate effectively to exchange information.

The position also requires the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors staff instructions safety concerns and emergencies in an environment where individuals may display aggressive self-injurious sexually maladaptive elopement or other unpredictable behaviors.

Regular and acceptable attendance excluding approved absences and periods of leave is also an essential function of the position.
