An internal Admissions Director for a nursing homemanages the entire resident intake process acting as the primary liaison between hospitals families and the facility to drive census goals. Key duties include reviewing clinical/financial records conducting tours verifying insurance ensuring regulatory compliance and facilitating smooth empathetic transitions for new residents.

- Admissions Management:Coordinate the complete intake process from initial inquiry to move-in ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with regulations.
- Referral Development:Build relationships with hospital discharge planners physicians and community partners to maintain high quality-focused census levels.
- Clinical & Financial Screening:Review medical records for appropriateness and verify insurance benefits payor sources and financial responsibility.
- Family & Resident Support:Act as the main point of contact providing tours explaining services and offering emotional support to families and prospective residents.
- Coordination & Communication:Collaborate with the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) and administration to manage daily bed availability and ensure the facility can meet the residents care needs.
- Documentation & Reporting:Maintain accurate up-to-date and confidential files including contracts and agreements.
- Strategy & Planning:Develop and implement strategies to meet marketing census and quality mix goals for the facility.
Key Qualifications
- Experience:Often requires 15 years in nursing home admissions or related healthcare administration.
- Skills:Exceptional communication (verbal and written) organizational skills and proficiency with admissions/medical software.
- Emotional Intelligence:Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and interact effectively with elderly or distressed individuals.
