JOB DESCRIPTION


POSITION TITLE: Admissions Counselor

REPORTS TO: Assistant/Associate Dean of Admissions

POSITION SUMMARY: Admissions Counselor serves as a primary student recruiter and represents the College both on and off-campus to prospective students parents secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Their goal is to identify students most likely to be successful and graduate from Eureka College to enroll and retain students through graduation and to assist students and parents through the admissions process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Implement an effective recruiting and enrollment plan for the assigned territory.
Communicate with prospective and admitted students through verbal and written communication (social media phone calls emails texts postcards letters etc.).
Develop coordinate and provide educational sessions on the admissions process and Eureka College for high schools and/or other secondary education audiences.
Plan and implement travel schedule to reach the target audiences in the assigned territory.
Develop and maintain relationships with high school counselors to identify prospective audiences and students.
Interpret prospective students education materials and counsel on potential path in secondary education as appropriate ie; grade-point averages in relationship to college acceptance.
Create presentations with the office of financial aid to explain financial aid processes and awards along with college scholarships & aid to students/parents. Maintain knowledge of current financial aid policies and procedures for Federal State and Institutional aid including an understanding of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Evaluate credentials of students applications for admission and use professional judgment to determine eligibility. Review questionable applications with Assistant/Associate Dean of Admissions.
Enter all data in appropriate student information system and/or CRM.
Travel required. Some evenings and weekends are required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work collaboratively with other admissions staff to plan organize and conduct on-campus events and educational sessions.
Work with faculty coaches and other college staff in recruitment efforts.

EDUCATION:
Essential: Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university


EXPERIENCE:
Essential: Prior work in an educational institution or sales-based organization. (internships and work-study are acceptable)
Desirable: Previous experience as an Admissions Counselor in an educational setting.
Bilingual in Spanish/English.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Drivers License

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Bilingual in Spanish/English desirable.
Strong presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Ability to achieve enrollment goals using initiative and self-motivation.
Knowledge of operating standard office equipment and computer systems
Ability to develop proficient knowledge of Eureka College (including but not limited to academics campus life and personnel).
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand sometimes for extended periods of time; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Some travel by car to a variety of off-campus settings is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Normal workday is 8:00AM-5:00PM Monday through Friday with one hour allocated for lunch. This role requires an adjusted schedule of 10:00AM-7:00PM or 11:00AM 8:00PM at least two days per week from September - May to contact high school students after their school day. Flexibility in the work schedule is also required to accommodate occasional evening and weekend hours and travel to/from college fairs and high schools.

TARGET SALARY RANGE: $36000 to $38000 annually
