Position Summary
Valley Cities is seeking an Admissions Coordinator for our Treatment Facility in Seattle to support the management of client admissions from local Emergency Departments. The Admissions Coordinator will act as the liaison between our allied health partners and facility. The candidate selected for this role must work equally well independently and within a multidisciplinary team and possess exceptional skills in verbal and written communication time management organizational effectiveness and the management of multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions
Serve as the first point of contact for all admissions calls and emergency department referrals
Responsible for conducting initial screening of emergency department referrals to ensure medical and legal propriety for admission to facility; works closely with shift Charge RNs around any medical questions and/or concerns specifically related to facility admission
Responsible for working with the Emergency Department to obtain all necessary medical and legal documents to facilitate admission and ongoing treatment
Initiating client charts for anticipated admission to facility to include Provider One and ECLS access checks (insurance verification).
Build and maintain effective and professional relationships with internal and external clients
Assist shift Charge RN as needed with administrative admissions functions
Assist with tracking and data management functions as indicated within scope of work
Communicate with providers as indicated to inform as to client admissions
Assist with process improvement tasks around facility admissions and communicate processes changes to both internal staff and external stakeholders
Other duties as assigned as considered appropriate within scope of work
Must obtain a Counselor Agency Affiliated Registration (AAC) within 30 days of hire
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Licensure
High school diploma general education degree (GED) required
Must obtain an Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) within 30 days of employment.
Food Handler Permit
Experience
Minimum of one year experience in the healthcare or behavioral health industry (preferred)
Minimum of two years customer service experience
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Maintain client and staff confidentiality; knowledge of HIPPA laws and regulations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail orientation
Initiative in problem-solving
Excellent Customer Service skills needed for this position
Exemplary organizational and multi-tasking skills
Motivated and proactive learner
Knowledge of Windows Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access

Working Conditions
Work is performed inside in varying temperatures. Employee may occasionally be required to push or lift to 25 pounds. Employees may be exposed to odors or vapor on the client care units. Employee will be sitting and walking short household distances most of the time. Employee is also required to stand walk type bend write read interpret and explain complex issues and speak on the telephone.
