The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a command headquarters level Administrative Support Assistant and principal executive support administrator for Air Mobility Command Public Affairs in the planning and execution of the daily operations of the Director and Deputy Director of Public Affairs (PA) including general analysis and staff advisory services.
- Serves as Executive Administrative Manager for the AMC/PA Director and Deputy subordinate staff and the organization in general.
- Prepares and reviews executive-level correspondence reports and other materials for the Director and other senior leaders.
- Serves as executive advisor on administrative programs and initiatives within AMC Public Affairs Directors purview.

- The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance as a condition of employ the appropriate security clearance.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and/or commercial aircraft.
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours to include weekends holidays and overtime. Subject to being on call to support mission requirements and during periods of high activity. cont-
- -These irregular hours are usually not forecasted and require flexibility on the part of the member.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate valid state drivers license is required for the position.

- Employee must possess the ability to perform moderate physical activity involving lifting brisk walking and standing for long periods of time to perform the office mail function.
- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification in writing that your continued employment advances the public interest.
In order to qualify you must meet the Specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of organization moderate to complex issues program goals missions functions administrative operations of the headquarters and its interrelation to PA. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical evaluative and investigative methods and techniques to issues concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of Public Affairs administrative and support program operations. Knowledge of various software and equipment sufficient to produce a variety of documents such as letters spreadsheets databases and graphs prepare project and staff reports. Skill in applying the laws regulations policies and precedents which affect Public Affairs programs and related support resources. Skill in applying a comprehensive range of staff concepts objectives policies management/organizational techniques and military command. Ability to carry out and complete assignments involving work with diverse and dynamic groups by gaining their cooperation with tact courtesy and diplomacy and moving them toward an ownership of their objective without imposing personal bias.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge and skill to gather assemble analyze facts draw conclusions devise solutions to problems and identify changes and trends sufficient to apply analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification considerations and resolution of issues or challenges of a procedural or factual nature.
- Knowledge of extensive rules procedures and operations applied to OPRS EPRs PRFs awards/decorations protocol and clerical assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office.
- Knowledge of military organizations and protocol.
- Skill in coordinating administrative services for a warfighting headquarters and component command.
- Skill and ability to produce a variety of documents such as letters spreadsheets databases and graphs consolidate documentation prepare project and staff reports and deliver briefings to high-level officials both civilian and military.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to gain cooperation from others through tact courtesy and diplomacy.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
