About the Role:

The Adjunct Social Work faculty member plays a critical role in delivering high-quality education to students pursuing careers in social work. This position involves designing and teaching courses that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application preparing students to address complex social issues effectively. The role requires fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports diverse student populations and promotes critical thinking. Additionally the adjunct faculty member collaborates with full-time faculty and participates in curriculum development to ensure academic rigor and relevance. Ultimately this position contributes to the development of competent ethical and compassionate social work professionals who can make a positive impact in their communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program.
  • Relevant professional experience in social work practice or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach or facilitate adult learning in an academic or professional setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and colleagues.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver course materials for undergraduate or graduate social work classes in accordance with the institutions curriculum standards.
  • Engage students through lectures discussions case studies and experiential learning activities to enhance understanding of social work principles and practices.
  • Assess student performance through assignments exams and projects providing timely and constructive feedback to support academic growth.
  • Maintain regular office hours to advise and mentor students addressing their academic and professional development needs.
  • Collaborate with department faculty to update course content participate in faculty meetings and contribute to program improvement initiatives.

The required skills enable the adjunct faculty member to design and deliver comprehensive social work education that bridges theory and practice. Effective communication skills are essential for presenting complex concepts clearly and fostering meaningful classroom discussions. Interpersonal skills support mentoring students and collaborating with colleagues to enhance the academic program.
