About the Role:

The Adjunct English Instructor plays a vital role in delivering high-quality education to undergraduate students by teaching courses in English language literature and composition. This position is designed to support the academic mission of the institution by providing expert instruction fostering critical thinking and encouraging effective communication skills. The instructor will develop and implement course materials that align with curriculum standards and promote student engagement and success. Additionally the role involves assessing student performance through assignments exams and participation ensuring that learning objectives are met. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the intellectual growth of students and prepare them for academic and professional challenges through comprehensive English education.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in English Literature Composition or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching English at the college or university level.
  • Strong command of English grammar composition and literary analysis.
  • Ability to develop course materials and assessments aligned with learning objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures and course content in English language literature and writing.
  • Develop syllabi lesson plans and assessment tools that meet academic standards and learning outcomes.
  • Evaluate and grade student assignments exams and projects in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students during office hours and through other communication channels.
  • Collaborate with department faculty to maintain curriculum quality and participate in faculty meetings as required.

The required skills enable the instructor to design and deliver comprehensive English courses that enhance student learning and engagement. Strong communication skills are essential for clearly conveying complex literary concepts and writing techniques.
