JOB SUMMARY:

The Adjunct Instructor Teacher Education is responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality instruction in teacher education courses assessing and grading student coursework and providing timely feedback to support student success. This position fosters an inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of diverse learners from a variety of backgrounds collaborates in course development and improvement efforts and teaches in alignment with the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs) to prepare future educators for professional success

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to

  • Delivering instruction for assigned courses in accordance with approved curriculum and course objectives.
  • Supervising and evaluating student field experiences as required by the program.
  • Preparing and submitting course syllabi through Simple Syllabus at least 45 days prior to the start of the semester.
  • Completing attendance verification and other required enrollment reporting within established deadlines.
  • Evaluating student learning through quizzes exams written assignments and performance-based assessments and maintaining accurate and timely grade records in Canvas.
  • Submitting final grades by designated deadlines.
  • Providing ongoing support guidance and responsiveness to student questions and concerns.
  • Fostering a positive safe and engaging learning environment that promotes student success.
  • Integrating instructional technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Participating in departmental divisional and adjunct faculty meetings as appropriate.

  • Completing all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Masters degree in Education or equivalent; or Masters degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Education from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the teaching assignment;
  • A valid Florida Department of Education teaching certificate;
  • Proven three or more years of K-12 teaching experience;
  • A willingness to make students active partners in the teaching and/or learning process;
  • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time to present oral lectures/demonstrations walk bend lift reach up stoop and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as copier fax calculator telephone and other equipment as necessary. Indian River State College expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
