Job Description:
The Activity Specialist at Whitehall Campus helps enrich youths lives and promote a healthy and active lifestyle. You will help promote therapeutic recreation to include indoor and outdoor sports and physical activities lead groups and motivate youth! This position is day hours with Friday and Saturday off!!!!
The State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a full-time energetic and motivated Activity Specialist for the Division of Behavioral Health at Whitehall Campus.
Job Duties:
Plan organize and conduct activities in one or more therapy services.
Attend and actively participate in treatment team meetings to discuss and provide input on the youths progress and therapy programs.
Document the youths behavior compile progress reports and maintain necessary records.
Escort and monitor youth during off-campus activities.
Oversee the use and care of equipment and supplies used for therapy activities; may perform minor equipment maintenance.
Conduct other activity-based groups as assigned.
Schedule:
Sunday Thursday
9 am-5:30 pm
Compensation:
Starting pay is $22.279/hr with a $3 facility differential
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Post-high school coursework with an emphasis in recreation management music recreation therapy occupational therapy vocational rehabilitation or a related field or experience in planning coordinating or directing activity or therapy services.
Other: A valid drivers license is required. Must be 21 years of age.
Knowledge of: methods for planning and conducting therapeutic activities; the principles and methods of therapeutic interventions; the fundamentals and rules of various games sports and related leisure activities.
Skill in: delivery of one or more therapy services; working cooperatively with facility personnel; utilizing therapy methods and techniques in carrying out therapeutic activities; communicating with youth and staff and understanding their problems and needs; deterring deviant behavior; observing documenting and evaluating assigned therapy services.
Ability to: form effective relationships with youth; obtain and maintain youth interest and participation in activities; instruct youth how to perform an activity; observe and document behavior; keep records and compile reports.
