What youll do
As an Accounts ReceivableSpecialist youll follow up on claims so our clients get every dollartheyre owed. Youll work with insurance carriers and patients spot trendsand help fix problems before they grow.
- Work claims over 60 days old on the A/R reports with a focus on timely resolution
- Work assigned denials and correspondence
- Check claim status using clearinghouse and insurance portals
- Prepare corrected claims and appeals
- Make and take calls with insurance carriers and patients
- Spot trends in denials and payments and report them to your lead or manager
- Process refunds according to payer and state requirements
- Follow HIPAA and applicable state and federal collection laws
- Live out Emergicons core values every day
- Other duties as assigned
How youll work
Youll start in our Terrell TXoffice for a 90-day onboarding period with hands-on training. After you finishonboarding youre eligible for hybrid or fully remote work. Remote teammembers must live in Texas.
Youll report to the AccountsReceivable Manager and work closely with teams across the company.
What youll need
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of medical billing or A/R experience
- Working knowledge of Medicare Medicaid and commercial insurance including managed care plans
- Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid fee schedules
- Ability to read EOBs and ERAs and to work denials and appeals
- Familiarity with CMS-1500/837P claims ICD-10 and HCPCS codes and timely filing limits
- Knowledge of medical terminology and refund processes
- Strong computer skills especially Microsoft Office plus experience with medical billing software
- Clear professional communication with patients carriers and coworkers
- Detail-oriented organized and able to juggle priorities
- For remote work: high-speed internet and a private HIPAA-safe workspace
Nice to have
- Ambulance or EMS billing experience
- Experience with Texas Medicaid (TMHP) and Novitas Medicare
- Certification such as CPC CRCR or Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC)
