Accounting Technician

ACCOUNTANT FOR THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Compensation: Wage range: $22.47 per hour - $27.64 per hour ($46744.18 - $57491.20 annually); the starting hourly rate for this position will be $22.47 per hour.

POSITION FUNCTION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision performs a variety of paraprofessional accounting duties in the preparation maintenance and processing of accounting records and financial transactions including payroll purchasing rent collections accounts payable and verification of financial transactions to ensure timely payment of invoices; processes expenses and invoices; completes tax returns and forms; balances accounts; assists in preparing accounts for audit; maintains accurate financial records; assists in the preparation of financial reports and analyses; and performs related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent and
• Two (2) years of directly related experience in processes and systems described above.
• Working knowledge and experience in a federally funded program or fund accounting with grant experience.

Preferred:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting.

Language Requirements:

Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures and technical manuals. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors contractors supervisors co-workers residents and city/county agencies.
