Under direct supervisionestablishesand enforces child support obligations of responsible parents. Coordinates child supportactivities with legaljudicialand public organizations.

Job Description (General Summary): DCSS is the division within DHS that enhances the well-being of children by locating non-custodial parents; establishing paternity and support orders; enforcing and modifying support obligations; and collecting and distributing child support payments. This program promotes parent accountability and self-sufficiency while reducing the public responsibility for providing financial and medical support to children. DCSS also administers several outreach programs to include but not limited to Fatherhood Prison Re-Entry and Parental Accountability Court. All of these outreach initiatives are devoted to increasing non-custodial parental involvement in the childs life.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Research financial reports and resolves undistributed collections to expedite processing of child support payments in accordance with federal state and agency procedures.
  • Interacts with field and state office personnel to ensure any financial problems are addressed quickly and efficiently to ensure child support payments are disbursed timely.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor manager director or leadership team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a business curriculum from an accredited college or university.

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience performing accounting and/or fiscal control functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications demonstrate some or all the following skills/experience:

  • Bachelors degree in business curriculum from an approved accredited college or university.

-or-

  • Associates degree in business curriculum from an approved accredited college or university and two (2) years of work experience performing accounting or fiscal control functions.

-or-

  • Four (4) years of experience performing accounting and/or fiscal control functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related accounting or fiscal experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Accounting Technician Trainee (FIT019) or position equivalent.
