Job Summary
The Accounting Manager leads assigned accounting operations and the monthly and year-end close with responsibility for the accuracy timeliness and consistency of financial reporting across domestic and international entities. This role oversees revenue recognition under ASC 606 including service and equipment revenue; cost of services accruals; contract asset schedules; and gross profit margin analysis. The Accounting Manager reviews and prepares journal entries account reconciliations and supporting analyses; investigates discrepancies and potential revenue leakage; and ensures accounting treatment and reporting comply with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP) applicable SEC reporting requirements and SOX controls. The role provides direction and review for accounting team members partners with other departments to resolve issues supports internal and external audits and improves processes through automation and consistent workflows while maintaining effective internal controls.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee revenue recognition accounting for service and equipment revenue across domestic and international operations including application of ASC 606.
Review and approve journal entries and supporting documentation; oversee timely accurate recording of accounting activity.
Oversee balance sheet account reconciliations review supporting schedules and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for complex accounting areas.
Investigate material reconciliation discrepancies identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Monitor cost of services accruals contract asset schedules and product-line gross profit margins for accuracy and reasonableness.
Partner with key departments across the Company to understand internal processes resolve accounting issues and support complete and accurate financial statements.
Lead assigned month-end and year-end close activities coordinate team deliverables and meet reporting deadlines.
Oversee preparation and review of assigned SEC financial reporting disclosure inputs and related supporting schedules.
Assign and review work of accounting team members; provide guidance coaching and technical support.
Coordinate support for internal and external audits and address audit requests related to assigned areas.
Lead accounting projects and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
Oversee compliance with applicable SOX controls in assigned processes and identify opportunities to strengthen controls.
Drive consistent accounting processes across entities and identify opportunities for automation and more efficient workflows.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience:
5 years of progressive accounting experience including at least 12 years of experience reviewing the work of others or leading close activities.
Bachelor degree in Accounting (preferred) or Finance
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems experience; Microsoft Business Central is a plus
Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP revenue recognition under ASC 606 and internal controls including SOX controls
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
Skills/Abilities:
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills
Strong analytical technical accounting and problem-solving abilities
Ability to lead a team through changing priorities and close deadlines
Ability to delegate review and develop team members while collaborating across departments
Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain accounting matters to stakeholders
Ability to research accounting guidance and apply it to the Companys operations
Strong Excel skills and ability to improve reporting workflows
