FRANKLIN-MCKINLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICTCLASS TITLE: ACCOUNTANTBASIC FUNCTION:Under the direction of the Director of Fiscal Services perform professional accounting work in the computation recording and reporting of financial transactions; review prepare and maintain accounting and other fiscal records; provide technical assistance to accounting DUTIES:Balance and reconcile financial records and accounts; prepare journal entries and budget transfers. EPrepare work papers audits and reconciliations; assist in year-end audit as necessary. EPerform special financial statistical research and analytical studies; prepare reports as appropriate. EPrepare financial statements and other reports for Federal State and other agencies as well as for internal accounting. EDesign recommend and implement changes in accounting systems and procedures. EPlan develop and maintain financial information and accounting records. EAssist District personnel with budget activity proper expenditure coding document preparation and other accounting related activities. ERespond to complaints and request for information; interpret financial transactions and reports. EConduct research analyze data and make recommendations on the formulation of new or reviewed fiscal related policies and procedures. ETrain fiscal personnel on new or revised systems. EProvide technical direction and guidance to fiscal services personnel. EAnalyze and approve various computations for payment to vendors such as workers compensation and state disability. EParticipate in year-end closing. EPerform related duties as AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of:Accounting and fiscal systems policies procedures and Accepted Accounting Principles applicable to school and financial record-keeping school accounting laws practices and types and uses of modern accounting office office practices procedures and organization operations policies and objectives. Oral and written communication skills. Applicable sections of State Education Code and other applicable laws. Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy. Operation of a computer and related software aspects of field of to:Perform professional accounting work in the computation recording and reporting of financial technical assistance to District personnel regarding accounting and budgeting policies procedures and a variety of fiscal records accounts and and resolve problems and draw accurate clear and accurate financial a personal computer and recommend appropriate software independently with little direction. WORKING CONDITIONS:Environment:Office Demands:Sitting or standing for extended periods of of hands and fingers to operate a computer to read various statistical at the waist to retrieve materials.
