$17.92 - $18.64 per hour

Encourages participants to continue in and graduate from secondary school enroll in post-secondary education or reentry programs in education. Provides program services specific to the needs of adults veteran middle and high school program participants. Performs a variety of office management and clerical duties including data collection and record keeping and updates.
Experience:
- Two years of experience in student personnel services (i.e. in an academic personal and/or career counseling setting).
- Two years of related experience with disadvantaged youth.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Education counseling psychology social work human relations or related field of study.
Certifications Registrations and/or Licenses:
Valid Oklahoma drivers license
Skills Proficiencies and/or Knowledge:
- Strong clerical/administrative support skills.
- Active listening skills essential in the advising role.
- Familiarity with multiple career assessment instruments understanding and interpretation of test scores.
- Accuracy in collecting documentation of data required for annual performance reports.
- Excellent organizational time management and human relations skills.
- High degree of integrity; ability to work in a sensitive highly confidential and professional environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate diplomatically clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing to exchange information give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately with all students faculty staff and community partners.
- High degree of initiative to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers fax machines scanners internet Microsoft Office (Word Excel Access PowerPoint Outlook).
- Ability to facilitate student workshops in person or through virtual platforms.
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Education:
Masters in Education counseling or related field.
Experience:
Experience working in a federal TRIO program.
Skills Proficiencies and/or Knowledge:
- Understanding of veterans issues and educational benefits.
- Experience in the administration scoring and interpretation of career assessments.
- Understanding of students who may be 1st generation low-income and/or disabled.
- Skill in curriculum development and instructional planning that can be used to coordinate and facilitate various workshops.
- Knowledge in using digital platforms to perform job functions.
- Experience as a bilingual English/Spanish speaker.
Essential Job Functions:
- Execute the goals and objectives of the Educational Talent Search program.
- Initiate and maintain contact with target schools helping agencies and community organizations.
- Act as a liaison between the target schools and post-secondary institutions
- Recruit eligible participants.
- Provide individual academic guidance and counseling designed to encourage and assist participants in completing a rigorous secondary school program of study.
- Coordinate all program activities in assigned target schools.
- Maintain and manage student records and documentation of participants program eligibility need for services services provided and progress.
- Plan and conduct workshops (either in-person or virtual) related to career exploration college orientation and financial aid awareness.
- Develop Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAP) for participants and provide academic planning guidance.
- Assist participants with admissions and financial aid for college.
- Assist the Project Director in preparing and gathering data for the Annual Performance Report/Review (APR) required by the Department of Education.
- Provide early retention intervention activities focusing on 6th-12th grade participants to assist with secondary school completion and postsecondary enrollment.
- Performs on-going evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs services and monitoring of all program objectives participant retention and activities.
- Help supervise and transport participants on visits to post-secondary institutions businesses and cultural events.
- Provide parental involvement workshops on the availability of financial aid FAFSA submission the importance of post-secondary education and other educational topics.
- Provide academic services designed to encourage reentry of eligible populations into secondary or postsecondary educationincluding dropouts and veterans.
- Attend staff meetings mandatory training financial aid workshops and a minimum of two professional development each year as assigned by the Project Director.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Project Director

- Work will be primarily performed in an office environment with a significant amount of contact in person by telephone email and various communication platforms.

- In-state travel to include exposure to outside conditions as relates to program cultural events and activities. Occasional overnight stay may be required.
- Occasional out-of-state travel for trainings.
- Duties require extended periods of sitting talking and listening.
- Duties require extensive use of computers telephones and other office equipment.
- Required possible lifting of up to 25 pounds; (if an object weighs more than 45 pounds OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
- Must be able to drive participants on visits to post-secondary institutions career site visits and cultural events.
