ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Workcollaboratively as part of the Academic Advising Center to provide academicsupport services to students. Provideacademic advising guidance and help to our new students as they choose andenroll in appropriate courses. Learn and stayup to date on requirements of academic programs including related programsprogram tracks and degrees offered. Communicateprogram requirements to students. Meet withstudents individually before registration in person by phone and by email ortext. Collaboratewith university faculty and staff to address challenges offer solutions andhelp students to connect with their chosen academic programs. Performadministrative functions that include contact management documentation filemaintenance and reporting. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisor responsibilities for this position. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES (Language Mathematical Reasoning and Computer Skills): LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read andinterpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenanceinstructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports andcorrespondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers oremployees of an organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add subtract multiplyand divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions anddecimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpretbar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety ofconcrete variables in situations where only limited standardization to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oraldiagram or schedule form. COMPUTER SKILLS: Toperform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of WordProcessing software; Spreadsheet software; Project Management software; Internet software and Contact Management systems. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a Non-Exempt/Hourly Full-Time StaffPosition. Aregular 40-hour work week is required (plus occasional overtime on eveningsand/or weekends). Occasional evenings and/or Saturdays may be required for attendance atvarious special events on campus (Campus Connect etc.) All hours worked beyond 40 hours in a single work week willbe compensated at time and a half per FLSA guidelines. Must have and maintain a valid Class C DriversLicense and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under theuniversity liability policy. Mustbe able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus as needed. To perform the job successfully an individual should demonstrate the following competencies.
Bachelors Degree in a relevant field. Two years ofexperience in academic advising counseling teaching or student support.
Masters Degree in Higher Education Counseling ora related discipline. Four or more years experience with higher education policies procedures and academicsystems.
