LidsU extends that expertise into campus and university retail pairing enterprise retail capabilities with locally relevant assortments service and community engagement.
This position supports The COOP retail experience serving the Harvard and MIT communities including students faculty staff alumni members visitors and fans. Team members are expected to respect The COOPs heritage and brand while helping create a consistent modern and locally relevant experience across its Harvard and MIT stores.
Support the Campus Store Manager in leading daily operations and delivering strong sales service people merchandising and inventory results. This role serves as Manager-on-Duty and may own one or more departments or operating functions based on store needs.
- Act as Manager-on-Duty and provide direction coaching and issue resolution when the Store Manager is unavailable.
- Assist with hiring onboarding scheduling training performance follow-up and employee engagement.
- Assign daily work and ensure priorities are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain a visible floor presence and provide informed service across the stores product and service offerings.
- Help the team serve the distinct needs of the Harvard or MIT campus community connected to the assigned store.
- Support The COOP membership experience and school- or store-specific programs discounts tenders and events.
- Support sales goals labor management cash controls inventory accuracy store technology safety and loss prevention.
- Own assigned departments or functions including replenishment merchandising receiving trade books visual execution or operations.
- Assist with peak-period planning for orientation commencement reunions campus events and seasonal demand.
- 3 years of retail experience preferred; at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in collegiate bookstore specialty or multi-category retail preferred.
- Strong customer service communication organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead the store in the Store Managers absence.
- Flexible availability including evenings weekends holidays and peak academic periods.
- Ability to remain standing and move throughout the store for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently communicate with customers team members and business partners.
- Ability to operate point-of-sale inventory and other retail technology systems.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds and use ladders safely.
