Kenowa Hills Public Schools is seeking an innovative collaborative and student-centered Elementary STEM Teacher to inspire curiosity creativity and a lifelong love of learning through engaging hands-on learning experiences. The successful candidate will cultivate a classroom where students ask questions solve authentic problems design innovative solutions collaborate with peers and apply science technology engineering and mathematics to real-world challenges.

The STEM Teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to integrate STEM concepts across the curriculum while fostering creativity perseverance productive struggle and a growth mindset in every learner. Through engaging learning experiences the STEM Teacher will help students develop the critical thinking communication collaboration and problem-solving skills necessary for future success.

• Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate with appropriate elementary endorsement required.
• Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education STEM Education Science Technology Engineering Mathematics or a closely related field required.
• Masters Degree in Education STEM Education Curriculum & Instruction Educational Leadership or a related field preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver inquiry-based hands-on STEM instruction.
• Knowledge of the Michigan Science Standards (NGSS) and engineering design process.
• Experience integrating technology into instruction and utilizing instructional technology to enhance student engagement.
• Experience with coding robotics engineering design challenges makerspaces computer science instruction or similar STEM programming preferred.
• Experience with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering is Elementary (EiE) LEGO Education VEX Robotics Micro:bit or similar STEM resources preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate STEM concepts across multiple content areas.
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH) trauma-informed instructional practices restorative practices or willingness to participate in district professional learning.
• Experience implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and utilizing formative assessment to differentiate instruction.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers instructional coaches interventionists administrators students and families.
• Commitment to diversity equity inclusion and culturally responsive instructional practices.

• Design and deliver engaging inquiry-based STEM instruction aligned with the Michigan Academic Standards and Michigan Science Standards (NGSS).
• Facilitate hands-on learning experiences utilizing the engineering design process scientific inquiry computational thinking and problem-solving.
• Design lessons that integrate science technology engineering mathematics creativity innovation and real-world application.
• Foster creativity communication collaboration perseverance and critical thinking through authentic learning experiences.
• Create a classroom environment where students are encouraged to explore question design test revise and reflect.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to differentiate instruction and meet the diverse academic behavioral and social-emotional needs of learners.
• Build strong positive relationships with students while creating a classroom culture aligned with Capturing Kids Hearts and trauma-informed instructional practices.
• Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers to integrate STEM learning into core academic content.
• Support district initiatives including Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and continuous school improvement efforts.
• Integrate technology effectively while promoting responsible digital citizenship.
• Maintain a safe organized engaging and well-equipped STEM classroom laboratory and makerspace environment.
• Supervise students during STEM activities specials assemblies field trips outdoor learning experiences and school events.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students families colleagues and community partners.
• Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) district professional development curriculum development and collaborative planning.
• Maintain accurate student records and fulfill all district and state reporting requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

This is an in-person teaching position requiring regular on-site attendance. The essential functions of this position involve direct instruction collaboration supervision of students and hands-on STEM learning experiences and therefore cannot be performed remotely.

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand walk bend kneel crouch squat reach and move throughout classrooms and school facilities for extended periods.
• Lift carry push pull and move instructional materials STEM equipment robotics kits tools storage containers technology and classroom furniture weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Utilize computers interactive displays 3D printers robotics equipment makerspace tools engineering materials and other instructional technology throughout the workday.
• Demonstrate and safely facilitate the use of age-appropriate STEM equipment tools and materials.
• Supervise students during STEM investigations engineering design challenges outdoor learning experiences specials assemblies field trips and other school activities.
• Move quickly to respond to student safety concerns emergencies or accidents.
• Maintain emotional regulation sound judgment and professionalism while responding to disruptive student behaviors or crisis situations.
• Implement district-approved de-escalation strategies and participate in CPI and/or Ukeru training as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with students families staff and community partners.
• Work in environments with varying noise levels frequent movement multiple simultaneous activities and evolving instructional needs while maintaining student engagement and safety.

The work environment may include moderate to high noise levels associated with collaborative STEM projects makerspace activities robotics engineering challenges and hands-on learning experiences.

Pursuant to PA 131 the selected candidate must receive clearance from the Michigan State Police Department prior to employment through Livescan fingerprinting. The candidate is responsible for the fingerprinting background check fee.
