2027 Structural Engineering Intern
Job Summary
As a Structural Engineering Intern at KPFF you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects gaining hands-on experience in various phases of the design and construction process. This internship provides valuable structural analysis modeling and design exposure while allowing you to contribute ideas and solutions that enhance project efficiency and integrity.
Throughout the internship you will:
- Collaborate with seasoned engineers on structural projects during design analysis and construction phases.
- Conduct structural analysis simulations and calculations using RAM RISA and CSI software.
- Participate in site visits gaining practical insights into construction processes.
- Contribute to team discussions and problem-solving efforts bringing fresh perspectives to the project.
- Participate in our Weekly Intern Training Series
Qualifications :
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters degree program in civil or architectural engineering with an emphasis in structures.
- Completion of statics mechanics of materials and at least one design course (e.g. concrete steel wood or masonry) by the start of the internship.
- Completed coursework in Structural Statics
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical and organizational capabilities with the ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Previous internship experience in a structural or civil engineering role.
- Completed coursework in Structural Dynamics Steel Design Concrete Design Wood Design and Seismic Analysis and Design.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Interns primarily work in a standard office setting with occasional travel to project sites.
- Field visits may involve walking standing kneeling or navigating uneven terrain.
- Must comply with all safety requirements in the office and on job sites.
Internship Duration:
- The internship typically runs 10-12 weeks during the summer with full-time hours.
- Exact start and end dates may vary depending on the students availability.
