Legacy Charter School is seeking a reliable and student-centered Guest Teacher for the school year. This role plays a critical part in ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment during teacher absences.The ideal candidate is flexible proactive and committed to supporting scholar learning and school operations while contributing to a safe structured and respectful school environment.
Legacy Charter School is a high-performing public charter school serving approximately 468 scholars in Kindergarten through 8th grade in Chicagos North Lawndale neighborhood. Our team is dedicated to building a strong joyful learning environment where scholars are supported academically socially and emotionally.
The Guest Teacher provides daily instructional coverage in the absence of a classroom teacher ensuring that learning continues in a structured and productive environment. This role involves implementing provided lesson plans managing classroom routines and maintaining a safe and respectful atmosphere aligned with Legacys core values.When not covering a classroom the Guest Teacher supports school-wide operations including supervision duties and administrative tasks helping ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the school.This role is ideal for an educator who is adaptable organized and committed to supporting scholar success in a fast-paced school environment.
As a Guest Teacher you will:
- Implement lesson plans effectively while adapting as needed to meet scholar needs
- Maintain a safe structured and respectful classroom environment
- Deliver instruction in a clear organized and engaging manner
- Utilize differentiated strategies to support diverse learners
- Build positive relationships with scholars staff and families
- Uphold school-wide expectations for culture and climate
- Supervise scholars during transitions hallways and other assigned duties
- Support daily school operations including tasks such as writing passes and assisting with logistics
- Use G-Suite tools (Google Classroom Drive Calendar) to support instruction and communication
- Actively seek feedback and demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow
- Contribute positively to a collaborative and mission-driven school culture

- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Substitute License required

Salary Range: $36500 $50000 per year based on experience and qualifications
