Job Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This positionis responsible forthe following: Other duties may be assigned.
A weldermust understand welding procedures andparameters.
Cancomprehendand utilize blueprints sketches drawings and work process instruction.
Welds steel plates andpipesin the repair and/or construction of marine vessels industrial componentsand associated equipment.
Have the skills to usevarious typesof welding equipment fordifferent typesof metal.
Welds components in a flat vertical or overheadposition.
Performs related tasks such as cutting and grinding.
Repairs broken or cracked partsfillsholes and increasesthe sizeof metal parts.
Weldsmetal parts together using gas weldingbrazingarcwelding wire fedwelding or tigwelding process and procedures.
Highly skilled weldersoften aretrained to work with a wide variety of materials such as titanium aluminumor exotic metals in addition to steel.
Select and set up welding equipment execute the planned welds and examine the welds to ensure that they meet standards or specifications.
Required Education & Experience:
High School Diplomasome collegeor technical school certificationsix months to oneyear(s)experienceor equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must pass an ABS or ASME weld test.
