Our client in the Los Angeles area is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to oversee the smooth flow of Quality Assurance activities on an Aircraft Freighter Conversion project. This opportunity will initially start as a contractor role with the view to becoming a direct hire position.

Position purpose/core responsibilities:

• Expertise ensuring AS9100 compliance.
• Coordinate with 3 QA inspectors.
• Coordinate with vendors and interact with DARs as needed.
• Supervise first Article Inspection activities
• Familiar with 8130-9 FAA Statement of conformity.
• Apply knowledge of quality assurance standards and procedures to improve the Quality Management System and mentor employees.
• Support production operations by establishing & maintaining expectations standards throughput/ Key Performance Indicators.
• Additionally understands prioritization of work and evaluation of individual performance & individual employee effectiveness.

Main Duties:

• Responsible for managing individual process throughput within the QA team.
• Operating and maintaining an aerospace Quality Management System in compliance with industry and international quality system requirements including but not limited to:
  • Managing and verifying requirements for Vendors.
  • Supporting Internal & External Audits and Source inspections.
  • Correcting Action & Non-Conformance Reports.
  • Inspecting and testing methods.
• Understanding inspection methods from bench inspection to CMM & PCMM.
• Proficient understanding of engineering drawings along with GD&T requirements.
• Ability to understand and interpret material and process specifications.
• Ability to understand SPC CPK and other process controls.
• Ensure QA inspection requirements are identified planned and executed.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of five years experience in Quality Assurance.
• A minimum of three years experience in a supervisory position.
• Experience in AS9100 quality system audits and establishing and maintaining internal audits.
• Experience in managing concurrent projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word Excel ability to learn supplier portals.
• Willingness to travel when required.
• A record of continuous professional development.
• Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and ISO9001/AS9100 quality standards.
