Senior Android developer

We are looking for a Senior Android Developer with 5 years of programming background to join a mature fast-growing product and build native Android experiences from the ground up alongside a hybrid mobile team.

Must have:

• 5 years of professional experience developing Android applications in Kotlin and/or Java
• Strong understanding of Android SDK Jetpack components and modern architecture patterns (e.g. MVVM Clean Architecture)
• Proven experience developing and maintaining native Android plugins for Ionic/Cordova or Capacitor
• Hands-on experience integrating native Android functionality (e.g. sensors notifications background tasks) into hybrid apps
• Comfortable debugging and optimizing cross-platform applications with WebView-based components
• Experience with Android build tools (Gradle) app signing and publishing to the Google Play Store
• Familiarity with the Ionic Framework and hybrid app development concepts
• Solid understanding of mobile UI/UX best practices with a focus on performance and responsiveness
• Experience working with RESTful APIs Firebase and 3rd-party SDKs
• Strong Git and version control habits; experience with CI/CD pipelines for Android
• Hands-on experience using AI tools (Claude Cursor Claude Code) to improve and accelerate development
• English: Upper-Intermediate or Advanced (the client interacts directly with the team)

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with iOS development even at a high level to support cross-platform coordination
• Exposure to testing frameworks such as Espresso UI Automator or Detox for hybrid apps
• Experience working with Angular Capacitor React Native or other cross-platform frameworks
• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced product development environment

Customer: Global startup based in the USA (California).

Type: Health & well-being product (mobile app web).

Product: A parenting app that helps parents raising young children from pregnancy through the early school years organize life around their child. Parents log activities such as sleep feeding and diaper changes and the app turns that data into analytics charts and reports so families can better understand and plan their routines. On top of tracking the product provides parenting guidance including an AI-powered chatbot that answers questions about child development and care plus a website with accounts and subscriptions. An internal R&D team continuously launches and tests new product ideas.

Market: Global consumer market families with young children.

Stage: Growing startup in an active development phase continuously building new products and features.

Project team: 20 people on the TechMagic side organized across several sub-teams (developers and QA) integrated into the clients team structure.

Work schedule: Full-time; fully remote available within Ukraine (Lviv or Kyiv).
