Workshop Engineer (Machinist)

Deritend part of the Rubix Group was founded in 1898 and serves more than 3500 customers in the UK and boasts a blue-chip client base that includes some of the largest manufacturers and best known brands in the world. We specialise in optimising asset performance including motors gear boxes pumps machining induction condition monitoring and fabrication services.

Key Responsibilities

Main Tasks and Deliverables:

• Perform conventional machining operations such as turning milling and drilling using various lathes CNC machines and conventional machines to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies.
• Ensure workflow procedures are followed.
• Record all data necessary to produce and expected service and/or design results including sizes and illustrations.
• Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment.
• Performmetal sprayingtechniques as needed.
• Understand materials and applications as required.
• Set up and perform tool-post grinding operations (e.g. precision surface facing) broaching procedures and Babbitt bearing work.
• Perform various welding operations including setup and use of MIG TIG torch and stick welders.
• Lift tighten adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety precautions.
• Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools including but not limited to band saw belt sanders hand grinders files etc.
• Ensure that all company H&S policies and procedures are followed to ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
• Promote a culture of working safely as routine.

Skills and Experience:

• High school qualifications
• Engineering apprentice
• On the job training
