Job Summary
- Develop and manage a detailed training and competency matrix for all operational roles.
- Oversee training records license verifications qualifications and certificate expiration dates.
- Ensure all operational training is current and compliant.
- Conduct inductions for permanent temporary and agency personnel.
- Perform driver assessments vehicle familiarization training and periodic reassessments.
- Provide direct driver coaching to enhance driving standards and minimize incidents.
- Support compliance with:
- DVSA requirements
- Operator Licence obligations
- Health & Safety legislation
- Internal compliance procedures
- DVSA requirements
- Deliver toolbox talks and refresher training sessions.
- Assist with route risk assessments gate checks and crew monitoring activities.
- Investigate and address unsafe or non-compliant behaviors.
- Monitor tachograph violations and offer coaching to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate specialized training with internal trainers and external providers as needed.
- Maintain precise audit-ready compliance and training records.
- Assist managers with investigations and identify training needs from incidents or audits.
- Serve as the primary contact for training and compliance within Waste Services.

- Waste Management
- Full HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
- Experience driving various vehicle types.
- Experience in developing and maintaining training and competency matrices.

- Health & Safety Regulations
- DVSA guidance
- NEBOSH National General Certificate IOSH qualification membership or working towards an equivalent qualification.
- Excellent coaching mentoring and communication skills.

- Qualified Driver Assessor.
- Driver CPC Instructor Qualification.
- TAQA Qualification.
- Transport Manager CPC.
- WAMITAB Qualification.

- Experience with Local Authority Waste Services.
- This role is primarily office-based with frequent operational site visits.
- Flexibility is necessary to support operational training activities.
- Candidates should be comfortable working directly with frontline waste and fleet teams.
- A DVLA Licence Check is required before starting due to the driving responsibilities of the role.

Required Skills:
Essential Requirements Previous experience within: Waste Management Fleet Operations Highways Services Transport Operations Driver Training or Compliance Roles Full HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence. Experience driving a variety of vehicle types. Experience developing and maintaining training and competency matrices. Strong understanding of: DVSA guidance Operator Licence Compliance Fleet Compliance Health & Safety Regulations NEBOSH National General Certificate IOSH qualification membership or working towards an equivalent qualification.
