General Responsibilities for SMVF Peer Support Specialist:

• Provide peer support services to consumers with serious mental illness substance abuse and/or intellectual disabilities
• Function as a role model to peers
• Exhibit competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills serve as a consumer advocate and provide consumer information and peer support for consumers in outpatient and inpatient settings
• Assists and guides consumers toward achievement of specific goals identified by the consumer and specified in the Individual Service Plan (ISP).
• Occasionally transport Veterans to outside of the agency appointments such as the Veterans Administration Hospital.

• Peer with MH/SA lived experience veteran preferred

• Lead recovery groups share community resources and assist with linkage

• Maintain/reinforce partnerships with veteran preferred employers

• Must be a Veteran Dependent or Spouse of a Veteran
• Be a certified Peer Recovery Specialist or gain certification within the first 3 months of hire
• Currently possess or can acquire base access
• Hold a valid drivers license with an acceptable DMV record
• Experience in using various computer software applications and/or Electronic Health Record(Preferred)
