Mobile Maintenance Engineer
Location: Van Mobile London
The Mobile Maintenance Engineer is responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) reactive repairs and fault-finding across a portfolio of client sites. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services ensuring all assets are maintained safely efficiently and in accordance with contractual requirements.
The successful candidate will work across multiple locations carrying out maintenance on a variety of M&E systems including HVAC air conditioning electrical systems pumps generators lighting water systems and general building services equipment. Engineers must be capable of diagnosing faults interpreting asset performance data and ensuring client sites remain fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and statutory compliance tasks on mechanical and electrical plant across a range of client sites.
- Attend reactive maintenance calls and breakdowns ensuring faults are diagnosed and resolved within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
- Undertake fault-finding and repairs on building services systems including HVAC air conditioning pumps motors generators lighting plumbing and electrical distribution equipment.
- Complete minor fabric maintenance tasks where required including basic carpentry painting plumbing and general building repairs.
- Identify plant faults defects and areas for improvement providing recommendations and remedial solutions where appropriate.
- Ensure subcontractors operate safely and in accordance with contractual requirements whilst carrying out service maintenance or repair works.
- Operate Permit to Work and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures in accordance with BGIS health and safety policies and client requirements.
- Ensure all plant and equipment remain in a safe and serviceable condition taking prompt action to address defects and minimise downtime.
- Maintain suitable stock levels of commonly used parts and materials and provide parts lists and timescales for remedial works when required.
- Complete all maintenance records job sheets and associated documentation accurately and ensure information is submitted promptly.
- Prepare and follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all tasks undertaken.
- Maintain the CAFM system (e.g. Maximo) by updating and closing PPM and reactive work orders with accurate information and completion notes.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients colleagues subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment at all times including the correct use of PPE tools and equipment.
- Present a professional image of BGIS and deliver excellent customer service across all client sites.
- Maintain plant rooms workshops storage areas and workspaces in a clean tidy and safe condition.
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed safely efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Monitor compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs and proactively support service delivery objectives.
- Report hazards near misses and unsafe conditions and contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Participate in an on-call rota where required and provide support for emergency callouts.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by management.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a Mobile Maintenance Engineer Building Services Engineer Facilities Engineer or similar maintenance role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services systems.
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance within commercial environments.
- Ability to fault-find and diagnose issues across a range of M&E equipment and building services systems.
- Experience using CAFM systems such as Maximo Concept or similar.
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation safe systems of work and permit systems.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently prioritise workload and manage multiple sites effectively.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- F-Gas Certification.
- Mechanical HVAC Plumbing or Building Services qualifications.
- IOSH Working Safely or equivalent.
- Previous experience within Facilities Management or Building Services Maintenance.
