In this hands-on role you will be the engine behind the science labs preparing equipment managing chemicals and ensuring teachers have everything they need to deliver inspiring biology chemistry and physics lessons.

Job Overview

Working under the direction of the Senior Science Technician and Head of Faculty you will take day-to-day responsibility for preparing practical apparatus formulating chemical solutions maintaining laboratory safety standards and clearing away equipment safely after student experiments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practical Preparation: Accurately assemble and set up apparatus biological specimens and chemical solutions for GCSE and A-Level practical lessons and exams.

  • Safety & Chemical Management: Handle store and dispose of chemicals safely in strict compliance with CLEAPSS guidelines and COSHH regulations.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean test and maintain laboratory glassware microscopes power packs Bunsen burners and specialized measuring equipment.

  • Stock & Inventory Control: Monitor chemical and equipment stock levels manage supplier orders and keep prep rooms organized and well-stocked.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure laboratories and prep rooms meet rigorous safety standards managing spill kits first aid supplies and PPE checks.

  • Teacher & Student Support: Trial new practical experiments alongside teachers and offer gentle technical guidance to students during hands-on lab work.
