We are pleased to be recruiting for a UK Regions Property Underwriting Team Lead to join our high-performing Commercial Property team based in Manchester.
As a high performing contributor at AIG you are the one the clients turn to in times of need. You act with speed composure compassion and knowledge to solve problems and the work you do every day is the heart of AIGs business.
You will drive growth and profitability of the UKRegions portfolio by managing the UK Regions team across our branch network (Birmingham Manchester Leeds and Glasgow). You will be responsible for our UK Regions Property and mid-market package portfolio and look to achieve targets set by management. You will ensure exceptional customer service to both internal and external parties and consistently meet service levels and performance targets as set by the Head of UK Retail Property.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executes strategic objectives for Property across our Regions portfolio. Drive a consistent approach with our offering across other AIG UK offices.
- Support and execute product growth strategy for our UK Corporate Protect offering.
- Builds and maintains strong broker and client relationshipswith Key identified UK Regional brokers
- Optimises Property expertise scale and deployment within the Property UK Regions in line with market strategies
- Optimises team deployment to deliver strategic objectives in line with client and broker engagement models
- Underwrite within agreed decision making standards limitations and underwriting authority
- Provide guidance and consultation on underwriting issues. Act as a referral point for all accounts within authority. Ensure referrals are being handled in accordance with UK and AIG regulations.
- Support in timely reporting of financial performance (including estimates)
- Day to day managerial responsibility for all local UK Regions Property underwriting staff
Position Requirements
- Strong commercial property insurance background
- Strong local market relationships and broker network
- Education preferred: Bachelors Degree or equivalent. ACII is an advantage.
- Significant property underwriting experience and strong technical insurance knowledge with a particular focus in Middle Market Sector.
- Team leadership and management experience.
- Proven ability to lead client and broker negotiations
- Strong ability to understand and construct complex policy wordings
- Multinational experience and knowledge of local markets/regulations is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal written communication skills including delivery of presentations to all levels of stakeholders including claims and distribution (both broker and client engagement).
- An appreciation and understanding of legal/regulatory requirements
- Understanding of reinsurance and how to structure programmes
- Proven ability to build relationships with brokers and clients.
- Good organisational skills with proven ability to prioritise workload.
- Highly numerate and competent in IT packages.
