Role Overview
The Underwriting Assistant provides practical support to the Treaty Reinsurance team helping to organise information prepare reports and keep day-to-day work running smoothly. The role involves working closely with underwriters and other internal teams to ensure data is accurate files are well maintained and tasks are completed on time. This is an entry-level position ideal for someone who is organised comfortable working with data and keen to learn in a professional office environment. Full training and support will be provided making this a great opportunity to start a career in insurance.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Treaty Reinsurance underwriting team.
- Set up submissions and coordinate with the Exposure Management team to support accurate data capture.
- Create maintain and manage programme and treaty references within underwriting systems.
- Produce renewal and portfolio reports to support underwriting and management review.
- Scan organise and maintain underwriting files in line with governance and audit requirements.
- Carry out policy and aggregate input checking to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
- Liaise with the Bridgend office to support operational processing and workflow management.
- Maintain organised business processes to support efficient underwriting activity.
- Undertake initial underwriting analysis and data preparation as directed by Underwriters.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Support underwriting projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the preparation of travel packs and underwriting visit materials.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
- Good numerical and analytical skills with confidence working with data and reports.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative working style.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- A proactive and reliable approach with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- An understanding of the importance of accuracy and quality in a regulated business environment.
Desirable
- Previous experience in an administrative analytical or office-based role.
- Experience working with data reports or business processes.
- An interest in building a long-term career in insurance.
- Willingness to study toward professional qualifications where supported.
