Job Summary
City Capital are currently representing a highly respected and well-capitalised specialist property finance lender that have retained our services to appoint an experienced & knowledgeable Underwriter to their growing team.
The role will focus on the assessment and funding of development investment and bridging finance.

Our client is an established specialist property finance lender with a strong reputation for providing flexible relationship-led funding solutions across the UK real estate market.
The business supports a range of property-backed transactions including bridging loans development finance and commercial investment facilities. Their experienced team combines commercial decision-making with disciplined credit standards and a strong focus on service.
Continued growth has created the need for an additional underwriting professional who can assess new opportunities support transaction execution and help maintain the quality of the existing loan portfolio.

Role Overview
As Underwriter you will assess new lending opportunities from enquiry through to completion while also supporting the ongoing management of completed loans within the portfolio. You will actively seek to ensure strong underwriting and credit principles are achieved throughout.
Working closely with the origination team and senior decision-makers you will analyse property finance proposals prepare Heads of Terms produce credit papers and present recommendations to credit committee.
You will also liaise with solicitors valuers and quantity surveyors review professional reports and ensure all conditions are satisfied before completion.
Following completion you will help monitor loan performance drawdowns receipts renewals valuations extensions and restructures.
Responsibilities
Assess new lending opportunities against the funds investment criteria
Analyse and model property finance proposals
Complete sensitivity analysis and relevant benchmarking
Prepare Heads of Terms deal summaries and credit papers
Present recommendations to credit committee and record meeting minutes
Instruct and liaise with solicitors valuers and quantity surveyors
Review legal documents valuations and quantity surveyor reports
Prepare completion statements and ensure credit conditions are met
Monitor loan performance against the original underwriting
Track drawdowns payments receipts renewals and property sales
Maintain accurate loan monitoring records and systems
Identify project delays funding shortfalls and emerging credit risks
Analyse extensions and restructures and prepare committee papers
Produce internal portfolio reporting when required
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate previous loan analysis underwriting or credit management experience within the property finance or mortgage markets.
You will be analytical in approach with a commercial mindset and a view to supporting clients wherever necessary. You will be someone that likes to take ownership of work and will be happy working in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
You will be an excellent communicator proactive in approach and will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Experience in property finance underwriting credit analysis or lending analysis
Confident assessing and structuring property-backed lending proposals
Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
Experience preparing credit papers or formal lending recommendations
Confidence presenting to credit committee or senior stakeholders
Ability to review valuation reports quantity surveyor reports and legal documents
Understanding of the lending process from enquiry through to completion
Portfolio monitoring extension or restructuring experience would be advantageous
Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
On Offer
The client is ideally looking to pay up to c75k as a basic salary for the ideal individual. Higher offers may be considered for exceptional experience & potential. Salary will be complemented by access to the company bonus scheme too which can significantly increase annual earnings.

The role is based in central London. Hybrid working is available.
