Triage Clinician

Location: Sheffield Walk-in Centre
Hours: 40
Salary: 35000 - 40000 per annum WTE (dependent on experience)

Are you an experienced registered clinician with strong triage skills and a passion for delivering safe responsive care

At OneMedical Group we are looking for a confident and compassionate Triage Clinician to assess adult and paediatric patients presenting with minor illness and injury. You will identify clinical urgency provide appropriate advice and signposting and help ensure each patient receives timely care based on their individual needs.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary urgent care team you will use your clinical judgement and communication skills to prioritise patients safely recognise deterioration and escalate concerns promptly. You will also help maintain the safety and wellbeing of patients while they are waiting to be seen.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Triage Clinician you will provide an effective initial clinical assessment and ensure patients are prioritised supported and directed to the most appropriate care pathway.

Your day-to-day will include:

Clinical Triage: Assessing adult and paediatric patients presenting with minor illness or injury recording vital signs and determining the urgency of clinical review.

Patient Prioritisation: Using the Australasian Triage Score NEWS2 and PEWS to support safe and consistent decision making.

Advice and Signposting: Providing clear clinical advice and directing patients to other appropriate services where it is safe to do so.

Safety and Escalation: Monitoring the safety of patients awaiting assessment recognising deterioration and escalating clinical concerns promptly to the clinician in charge.

Safeguarding: Supporting and promoting safeguarding processes for adults and children across the service.

Teamwork and Communication: Working closely with the multidisciplinary team and maintaining clear communication throughout each shift.

Quality and Governance: Participating in clinical audit governance research and service improvement activities to support safe and effective care.

Learning and Development: Completing mandatory and role-specific training and contributing to the training and development of colleagues where appropriate.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a calm and capable clinician who can assess risk make sound decisions and communicate clearly with patients relatives and colleagues in a busy urgent care environment.

You will need:

• Current registration with the NMC or HCPC.
• Formal triage training and face-to-face triage experience.
• Experience working within an urgent care environment.
• An in-depth understanding of NEWS2 and PEWS.
• Experience assessing both adult and paediatric patients.
• Evidence of recent professional training and development.
• Excellent communication interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Good time management and the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure.
• The ability to work confidently as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A clear commitment to safeguarding clinical governance and continuous improvement.
• Experience using SystmOne would be advantageous along with an interest in audit research service development and supporting the learning of colleagues.
• Most importantly you will be committed to putting patients first and providing safe respectful and responsive care throughout every shift.
