Job Summary
Transport Manager
Salary: Circa 40000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Wednesfield Wolverhampton
Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday 08:00 17:00 (1-hour lunch)
Holiday: 20 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (28 days total)
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the fleet operates safely efficiently and in full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of transport legislation driver management and fleet compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operation of the companys vehicle fleet and drivers.
Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation and operator licence requirements.
Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules servicing MOTs inspections and safety checks to ensure vehicles remain roadworthy.
Monitor and manage drivers working hours in line with the Working Time Directive and Drivers Hours Regulations.
Conduct regular driving licence checks and ensure all driver documentation remains valid and up to date.
Monitor and investigate driver infringements implementing corrective actions where required.
Maintain accurate transport and compliance records.
Liaise with maintenance providers to ensure servicing and repairs are completed promptly.
Ensure all transport policies and procedures are followed across the operation.
Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the transport department.
Identify opportunities to improve fleet efficiency and operational performance.
About You
Previous experience in a Transport Manager or similar fleet management role.
Excellent knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements.
Experience managing drivers and vehicle fleets.
Strong understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive.
Experience managing vehicle servicing maintenance schedules and compliance documentation.
Confidence in dealing with driver licence checks infringements and disciplinary matters where necessary.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
Good IT skills and experience using transport management systems.
