Summary
- The Traffic Engineer position is a 6-month contract with a local authority offering a daily rate of 202 under an umbrella arrangement. This role is pivotal in supporting the planning design and execution of traffic management and highway improvement projects throughout the borough. The position plays a crucial role in enhancing road safety optimizing traffic flow and maintaining the highway networks quality all while adhering to relevant laws policies and engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data from traffic highway and site surveys.
- Design and develop traffic management and highway improvement schemes.
- Create engineering drawings specifications and technical documentation.
- Assist in the design and implementation of parking controls traffic regulations and highway improvement projects.
- Contribute to the development of complex traffic and highway schemes.
- Prepare cost estimates and financial forecasts for traffic management projects.
- Issue work orders site instructions and technical guidance to contractors.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure work meets specifications.
- Inspect completed projects to verify quality quantities and materials used.
- Review contractor invoices and payment claims providing recommendations for payment approval.
Requirements:
- Experience in highways traffic engineering transportation or civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in conducting site surveys inspections and data collection.
- Ability to produce technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience in monitoring contractor performance and site activities.
Qualifications
- Degree HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering Traffic Engineering Transportation Planning Highway Engineering or a related field.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Additional Information
- Working hours are 35 hours per week.
