Tooling Engineer

They are is seeking a practical hands-on Tooling Engineer to take responsibility for maintaining repairing and improving their rotational mould tools and PU RIM tools.
This is a key workshop-based role for an experienced individual who can work on their own initiative identify tooling issues quickly and ensure production tooling remains in a safe reliable and serviceable condition.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect maintain repair and refurbish rotational mould tools and PU RIM tools
Carry out welding repairs including aluminium welding
Undertake fabrication fitting and rework of tooling fixtures and associated components
Use manual machine tools such as lathes mills pillar drills and grinders to modify and repair tooling
Diagnose tooling issues including wear distortion damage leaks alignment problems and surface defects
Complete preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend tool life
Support tooling trials problem-solving and production start-ups where required
Maintain tooling in a condition that supports consistent quality safe operation and efficient production
Record repairs maintenance activity and tooling condition in a clear and organised manner
Maintain good housekeeping standards and work in line with site health and safety requirements
Skills and Experience Required
Previous experience in a tooling fabrication maintenance or toolroom engineering role
Strong practical experience of welding with the ability to carry out aluminium welding
Proven fabrication and bench fitting skills
Competence using manual machine tools
Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
A methodical self-motivated approach with strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
A proactive attitude towards maintenance quality and continuous improvement
Desirable Experience
Experience working with rotational mould tooling
Experience with PU RIM tooling
Experience in a manufacturing environment where tooling uptime is critical
Familiarity with tool refurbishment modification and practical problem-solving on legacy tooling
