Job Summary

About the Role

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker you will provide trauma-informed care and support to children and young people living in residential care who have experienced trauma abuse and neglect. Working within a multidisciplinary team you will help create a safe stable and nurturing environment where young people can build resilience develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build safe therapeutic relationships with children and young people.
  • Provide daily care household support transport and routine activities.
  • Support education appointments employment and community participation.
  • Implement therapeutic care plans behaviour support strategies and safety plans.
  • Respond to complex behaviours using trauma-informed and de-escalation practices.
  • Administer medication and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with families Child Safety schools and allied professionals.
  • Promote the safety wellbeing and cultural identity of every young person.

About You

  • Experience supporting children young people or adults with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster including sleepovers weekends and public holidays.
  • Current Blue Card NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain) National Police Check First Aid & CPR and unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
  • Diploma desired or Certificate IV in Child Youth & Family Intervention Community Services Youth Work Mental Health Disability or a related field.
