A specialist engineering and manufacturing business is seeking a Test & Installation Engineer to join its Pulborough team. This hands-on role covers factory testing and worldwide installation/commissioning of superconducting magnet systems.
You will work with production design purchasing and management teams to ensure equipment tooling materials and documentation are ready and projects meet quality cost and delivery requirements.
- Test superconducting magnets in the factory including vacuum leak testing calibration equipment setup cool-down to liquid helium temperature energisation and shimming.
- Complete QA test and customer acceptance documentation.
- Work with design engineers to resolve technical issues and ensure testing is completed successfully.
- Support worldwide customer-site installations including delivery positioning cabling pumping cool-down energisation shimming and final acceptance.
- Plan and manage cryogen use to minimise waste.
- Identify improvements to tooling equipment processes automation and production methods.
- Ensure drawings travellers tools materials and processes are available for production and installation.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation process times and material cost information.
- Provide technical support across the business and train colleagues in relevant processes and engineering techniques.
- Communicate progress and issues to production engineering and management teams.
- Work safely in high-magnetic-field environments and assist with light rigging where required.
- Support production activities in other areas when necessary.
- Engineering Physics or Electronics degree preferred but not essential.
- 5 years experience testing/installing high-field MRI magnets is highly desirable.
- Experience with cryocoolers cryogens high vacuum compressed gases or helium leak testing advantageous.
- Strong practical skills using hand and power tools.
- Ability to read technical drawings and document assembly/test processes.
- Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently for extended periods.
- Willingness to undertake UK and international travel including assignments of up to 3 weeks.
