Job Summary

2-month contract position with a local authority

Summary
  • This is a 2-month contract position with a local authority aimed at delivering a comprehensive Special Educational Needs (SEN) service. The role is crucial in enabling the Local Authority to fulfill its statutory obligations under relevant legislation. It involves managing the assessment process for pupils with SEN ensuring the timely and compliant production of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and securing suitable placements and provisions for pupils both within and outside the Local Authority.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of pupils undergoing statutory assessment and review processes.
  • Ensure compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 SEND Code of Practice (2015) and SEND Regulations (2014).
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation review and amendment of EHCPs within statutory timelines.
  • Produce high-quality detailed and legally compliant EHCPs.
  • Ensure plans clearly reflect pupils needs outcomes and specified provision.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation.
Requirements:

Essential Experience Required
  • Recent (within the last 2 years) experience working in a Local Authority SEN role.
  • Experience managing statutory assessment processes and EHCP workflows.
  • Experience working with schools families and multi-agency professionals.
Essential Qualifications Required
  • Relevant qualification in education social care or related field (or equivalent experience in SEN services).
Additional Information
  • Working hours: 36 hours per week
  • The role requires an Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Child & adult)
