Temporary Accommodation Reduction Officer

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority inWaltham Forest to assist with the appointment of aTemporary Accommodation Reduction Officer on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 19.00 - 24.00 per hour

Summary:

The Temporary Accommodation Reduction Officerrole focuses on preventing homelessness by securing suitable housing solutions at the earliest opportunity and facilitating timely move-ons from temporary accommodation into sustainable private sector accommodation.

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist housing advice and support to customers seeking private rented accommodation.
• Match eligible customers to suitable private sector properties through available housing schemes.
• Work proactively to reduce admissions into temporary accommodation by identifying and securing appropriate housing options.
• Support customers currently in temporary accommodation to access sustainable private rented housing.
• Liaise with landlords letting agents and internal housing teams to secure suitable accommodation.
• Assess customers housing needs eligibility and suitability for private sector schemes.

Qualification:

• Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent (or relevant professional experience).

Essentials:

• Experience working within housing homelessness prevention or temporary accommodation services.
• Knowledge of homelessness legislation housing options and the private rented sector.
• Experience working with vulnerable customers and delivering person-centred support.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with landlords and housing providers.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise competing demand
