The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical & Product Compliance Coordinator to join an established food manufacturing business based in West Sussex.

Working closely with the Technical Manager you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of food safety product quality and technical compliance ensuring products meet both legislative requirements and customer expectations.

This is a varied role combining technical compliance specifications auditing supplier approval customer queries and NPD making it ideal for an experienced Technical professional who enjoys a hands-on role within a busy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and manage customer complaints and technical queries including food safety quality and contamination concerns.
  • Maintain and manage customer and supplier specifications accreditations and technical databases.
  • Support supplier approval including TACCP and VACCP requirements.
  • Manage and review raw material and finished product specifications ensuring information remains accurate and up to date.
  • Support BRCGS compliance maintaining technical procedures records and documentation.
  • Participate in and conduct internal audits while supporting external customer and certification audits.
  • Assist with traceability mass balance and mock recall exercises.
  • Work collaboratively with Production Engineering and Warehouse teams to maintain food safety and quality standards.
  • Support factory trials and product development acting as the technical representative and documenting results.
  • Coordinate pest control activities including liaison with external providers.
  • Manage non-conformances and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Produce and maintain product labelling in line with current legal requirements.
  • Generate nutritional information for specifications using appropriate systems.
  • Produce regular technical reports and maintain accurate technical records.
  • Provide support to the Technical Manager and deputise when required.
NPD & Product Development

You will also have an important role within the NPD process including:

  • Reviewing and signing off product specifications and supporting documentation.
  • Ensuring successful handover of new products into production.
  • Coordinating and running factory trials for new and existing products.
  • Supporting trials involving new ingredients and processes.
  • Conducting start- and end-of-life product testing.
  • Supporting quality assurance activities for newly developed products.
  • Ensuring the NPD process is followed correctly and relevant teams are appropriately trained.
  • Supporting competitor product comparisons and customer product requests.
About You

Were looking for someone with previous experience in a technical role within food manufacturing.

You will ideally have:

  • A qualification in Food Science Food Technology or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar food manufacturing technical role.
  • Strong knowledge of BRCGS HACCP food safety and GMP.
  • Understanding of current UK/EU food safety and labelling legislation.
  • Experience with TACCP VACCP allergens and supplier approval.
  • Experience conducting or supporting internal and external audits.
  • Strong specification management experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments and with external stakeholders.
  • A proactive adaptable and solutions-focused approach.
