Job Summary

3 Month COntract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose

To lead and coordinate the technical delivery of residential development projects ensuring designs approvals and construction information are delivered efficiently compliantly and to programme. The Technical Manager will oversee multidisciplinary design teams manage technical risks and support the successful delivery of high-quality housing developments across North Yorkshire.




Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical delivery of residential development projects from planning through to completion.
  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
  • Review interpret and coordinate architectural engineering and technical drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations planning requirements and statutory approvals.
  • Liaise with highways drainage utility providers and other statutory authorities to secure necessary approvals.
  • Monitor technical project programmes budgets and resource requirements to support timely project delivery.
  • Identify assess and mitigate technical risks across development projects.
  • Promote quality assurance and ensure technical standards are maintained throughout project lifecycles.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams contractors consultants and external stakeholders.
  • Visit development sites across North Yorkshire as required to provide technical support and oversight.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance.


Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Technical Manager or senior technical role within a UK residential housebuilder.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and technical design processes.
  • Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations planning legislation and statutory approval processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
  • Ability to review interpret and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong project management organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness including experience managing technical budgets and identifying value engineering opportunities.
  • Proven ability to identify and manage technical risks across projects.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance and compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving decision-making leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to development sites.
  • Desirable:
    • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering Construction Architecture or a related discipline.
    • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIOB ICE RICS or CABE).
    • Experience with Section 38 Section 104 Section 278 and utility adoption agreements.

Additional Information
  • Location: Office-based at County Hall Northallerton with travel to development sites across North Yorkshire as required.
  • Hours per Week: 37 hours (full-time). Part-time hours will also be considered.
