The role

As Team Leader within the Development Management team you will:

• Lead and manage a team of professional planning officers providing clear directionmentoringand support

• Beanintegral member of the widerDevelopmentManagementleadershipteamcontributingto serviceimprovementand innovation

• Take a hands-on role in the delivery ofmajordevelopments including theCouncillsGarden Villageproposals

• Lead on thenegotiationassessmentand delivery of large-scale and complex planning applications including residential-led mixed-use schemes

• Work collaboratively withMembers developersagentsconsultantsand internal colleagues to secure high-quality sustainable development outcomes

• Play a key role in meeting demanding performance targetswhilemaintainingsound decision-making and high professional standards.

You will beempoweredto negotiate proactively resolve constraints creatively and help shape schemes thatdeliverreal benefits for existing and future residents of the Borough.

About you:

We are looking for someone who:

Is an experienced Development Management planner with a strongtrack recordof handling major and complex planning applications

Has demonstrable experience of leading or mentoring officers or is ready to take the next step into a formal management role

Is confident negotiating with developers and their professional teams onlrge-scale and high-profile projects

Has a sound understanding of planning policy decision making and the politicalcontexof local government

Is motifvated collaborative and solution-focused with a genuine commitment to delivering high-quaity places. Membership of the RTPI (or eligibility for membership) is desirable.
