Teaching Assistant Reading Intervention

New Horizons Childrens Academy are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Reading Intervention to join their team. The successful candidate will support class teachers in the teaching and welfare of pupils with a specific responsibility for delivering high-quality reading interventions to accelerate pupil progress.

The role includes delivering 1:1 and small group reading support across the school with a strong emphasis on early reading phonics and closing gaps in attainment. As our Teaching Assistant Reading Intervention you will demonstrate a secure understanding of phonics and a clear belief that all children can be taught to read successfully.

Key responsibilities include;

• Providing high-quality teaching and learning support focused on reading development.
• Delivering structured 1:1 and small group reading interventions including phonics-based sessions to targeted pupils.
• Supporting pupils in developing decoding fluency comprehension and reading confidence.

There may also be a requirement to administer First Aid subject to appropriate training.

New Horizons Childrens Academy is a Good school (Ofsted May 2022) with a three-form entry that teaches over 600 children from the local aim is to provide an education that meets the needs of all our children and we expect high standards of behaviour and a positive attitude to learning.
